Handmade Music Brooklyn, Monday 3/8 at Galapagos – FREE
Handmade Music Brooklyn has a new home, in beautiful DUMBO at a fantastic space that’s finally well-suited to live performance: Galapagos Art Space. As a result, this month we can offer not only our usual noise-making, gathering, and beer sipping, but also a lineup of live music:
- Live musical sewing machine performance
- Electronic honky-tonk with homemade instruments
- New gestural controllers and audiovisual performance
- Surprises, crafters, makers, DIYers, electronics, felt, fuzz (the fabric kind, the noise kind), and more.
And it’s FREE, with a cash bar + tap. Description:
Tired of mass-manufactured sounds? Party with musicians who make their own tools to make their own music. A raucous mash-up of noisy science fair with live music party, Handmade Music lines up some of the area’s DIY nerdster elite. From homemade circuits to homebrewed software to handmade instruments, these music makers create their own, new sounds. The Handmade Music phenomenon has now spread from Portugal to Canada, but Brooklyn is where it all started. Come when doors open for open noise making, to meet the artists or bring your own creations, then stay for feature acts by artists from across the musical spectrum. Presented by createdigitalmusic.com, Make Magazine, Etsy.com, and XLR8R Magazine.
